Torrential rain hammering at the window was my alarm clock this morning. Fortunately I had that Saturday feeling and went back to sleep for a while. I’ve just started a new book which is perfect for this time of year. Another by Nicola Upson in the Josephine Tey series called ‘The Dead Of Winter’. Set on St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall it has an Agatha Christie feel to it. Already a murder and it’s Christmas Eve, with the threat of snow. A perfect way to spend the start of the morning, cosy in bed with a mug of tea.
Eventually I stirred myself only to open Day five of my advent calendar and crochet another pretty square. This time the wool was called Zombie Land by Fab Funky Fibres. My chocolate to munch with it gave me a start. Called berry bubbly it had popping candy inside...wasn’t expecting that lol! Meanwhile better half is blocking the hall way. He’s creating me a cold frame and it’s too cold to assemble it in the garage, so the hall is the next best option. It’s nearly finished so I’ll have to get some sweet peas under way to grow under glass. So exciting. I love the thought of another growing year ahead.
As the afternoon progressed we had a rather confusing phone call from eldest son. He had just heard from the contact tracing team telling him to isolate straight away and not go out until a ‘drive through’ covid test next Wednesday. It seems he has been in contact with a covid positive person on November 29th. Now here’s where the confusion lies. The only people he saw on November 29th, a Sunday, was his family for Sunday lunch here. So far no one else has had a call. No one else has had a positive test. All rather strange. We wait for the call!
After such odd news a walk was needed to blow away the cobwebs. Should have known the bright sky wouldn’t last. It was a rather soggy plod although stunning light and a rainbow made up for the later deluge. I’ll leave you with a few atmospheric photos as I sit by the fire gently drying out. Anything exciting in your corner?
