After a few Sundays with little originals, this Sunday was packed with originals, and the night was lead by the Stanley Cup, which continued this year's streak of being up year-to-year. It was a great Stanley Cup for NBC this year, and 2.7 in the demo tuned in at the last half-hour of the game, nearly doubling its starting audience of 1.5. It helped bring Megyn Kelly up a tenth from last week's mediocre debut. Though the 0.9 still isn't really anything to brag about, it's a respectable number for a show airing at 7 in Summer. The night's other big winner was ABC, with their game shows returning to solid (but not huge) numbers. Funderdome started at 1.4, which was only a tenth lower than its lead-in, Celebrity Family Feud. CFF had a fantastic year-to-year trend for this premiere after rough year-to-years for most of last season. Pyramid came back to a 1.2, which was noticeably down from the 1.7 for its series premiere last year. CBS had a very down Tonys. With no Hamilton this year, the awards were down an immense amount, dropping 7 tenths to a 0.9. That took it to its first fractional result and its lowest show since 2015. Over on Fox, Bob's Burgers ticked down a tenth. Not much more could really be expected of the poor show though, which was thrown into Summer after taking weeks off in order to give American Grit a good lead-in. Burgers did well in its one-off Summer airing, though American Grit did not. At all. Grit had a 0.4 debut for season two, which is horrific and embarrassing. It's a 50% decline from the series premiere and a three tenth decline from the first season finale. Not a good start.
Finals Update: The Stanley Cup (+0.2) and 60 Minutes (+0.1) adjusted up. Sunday Night With Megan Kelly (-0.3) and Funderdome (-0.1) adjusted down.
